Wildman

From the creators of Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander and Demigod, Wildman delivers a thrilling mix of action-role-playing and real-time strategy gameplay. You control a single hero -- the "Wildman" -- dropped into the middle of a combat scenario called a War Zone. Build your army and fight against opposing champion's armies. As your army begins to engage the approaching enemy, you support your troops with your own combat abilities and skills. You can shape-shift into new forms that grant you new abilities, and upgrade your armies with new technology or construct defenses. Your opponent switches tactics; you reconfigure your army to counter.

When the Wildman is not at war, he is on the hunt. Between these War Zone battles, you can go on role-playing adventures. You can explore fantastical environments, discover ancient dungeons full of mystery and treasure, earn new skills, discover and equip new weapons and armor, collect materials, and craft new items.

Wildman has fast-paced combat that tests your reflexes and deep role-playing that rewards strategic thinking. The more you play, the greater your power.

Wildman Saved? Wargaming Buys Gas Powered Games

PC News | Feb 14, 2013

By now, you've probably heard of the troubled development process of Gas Powered Games' action-RPG Wildman. Last we heard, the Kickstarter to get it made was cancelled, and GPG founder Chris Taylor was focusing on saving his company. Well, it seems that he's figured that little problem out, as Wargaming has announced that they've picked up the Dungeon Siege and Demigod developer. Read More »

Wildman Kickstarter Cancelled, Chris Taylor Says There is Still Hope for Gas Powered Games

PC News | Feb 11, 2013

With just four days remaining and less than half of the sought after $1.1 million raised, Chris Taylor announced today that he is canceling the Wildman Kickstarter. But there is a silver lining to this sad gaming tale: Taylor said he's been working behind the scenes to find other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running, and he hopes to have good news within the next few weeks. Gas Powered Games Near Death - We Can Save It

PC News | Jan 18, 2013

Chris Taylor has posted a new video update on the Wildman Kickstarter page explaining the decision to lay off "a substantial number of the team." To summarize, it's because he didn't want to screw over his employees if the Kickstarter funding didn't come through. He's asking for feedback from us: should he continue his Kickstarter drive, which, if successful, would allow him to hire at least some of the team (who have not yet found new jobs) back, or should he call it quits? Personally, I'm urging him to press forward. GPG's games have given (well, sold) me hundreds of hours of fun over the years, and I'm totally willing to throw down another $20 to allow it to continue to do so, especially when I'll get another game in the bargain. Let me explain why you should, too. Read More »

Gas Powered Shows Off In-Game Wildman Video

PC News | Jan 17, 2013

When Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games announced the Wildman Kickstarter the other day, the one thing that was conspicuously absent was in-game footage to show us how close to reality this action-RPG/RTS really is. Today we get to see it, albeit in not-so-glorious shakycamvision. As an added bonus, we get a no-DRM pledge, a promise of huge numbers of units in battle, a commitment to single-player, and a willingness to put Wildman up on Steam (if Valve will have it). Check out the video below -- there's a good payoff at the end, too. Read More »

Chris Taylor Gets The Kickstarter Bug, Announces Wildman

PC Previews | Jan 14, 2013

Chris Taylor made a name for himself with real-time strategy (with Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander) and action-RPGs (with Dungeon Siege). He's now combining those genres in Wildman, an action-RPG with huge, RTS-scale battles, from Gas Powered Games. "What I'm trying to do here is take all the things I love about action-RPGs and bring in just enough real-time strategy that I kind of break up the pace, so that I can enjoy the best of both games," he promises. "The hero character that I develop in the action-RPG becomes the central hero character of the RTS game." Read More »
