If you're a fan of Funcom's stellar point-and-click adventure series The Longest Journey (*pulling up my shirtsleeve to reveal my April Ryan tattoo*), you've probably given up hope by now that the cliffhanger ending to 2006's Dreamfall will ever be resolved. Well make like Steve Perry and don't stop believin', because Dreamfall Chapters, the long-awaited third installment in The Longest Journey, is now in pre-production.
Ragnar Tornquist, the designer behind the originals, is back at the helm for Dreamfall Chapters. Most recently the lead on Funcom's conspiracy theory MMO, The Secret World, Tornquist recently formed his own outfit, Red Thread Games. Funcom noted in the Dreamfall Chapters announcement this morning that it continues to own The Longest Journey IP, but it has agreed to license it to Tornquist and Red Thread for the sequel.
"I'm extremely grateful to Funcom for this unique and exciting opportunity, and I can't wait to dive back into the universe I helped create more than a decade ago, and continue the story players have been waiting for these past six years," Tornquist said in a statement.
No other details available on Dreamfall Chapters just yet. But this is one we'll definitely keep you posted on. For now, what would you Longest Journey fans like to see in the sequel?
