Hi-Rez cited the lessons it learned through Global Agenda in making Tribes: Ascend such a polished, well-balanced, and fun free shooter. Those lessons are being even further refined in the upcoming third-person action MOBA, Smite, before Hi-Rez makes like the Allman Brothers and goes back to where it all began. Global Agenda 2 is now in development.
Posting on the Hi-Rez forums, the studio said it is using fan feedback and applying everything it has learned on Tribes: Ascend and Smite and applying it to Global Agenda 2.
"Global Agenda had/has a variety of issues but the biggest is that we tried to do too many things with it and no single mode was as good as it could be," Hi-Rez stated. "We always said it was like a few games in one (PvP, AvA, Open Zones, Raids, Co-Op PvE)."
After surveying former Global Agenda subscribers on how it could make the franchise better, Hi-Rez said it got a handle on what fans wanted: a PvP focused, full-fledged Global Agenda sequel. That game is Global Agenda 2.
Expect a handful of old maps and modes along with all new battlegrounds, game types, and class weapons. All of it will be built on the platform Hi-Rez used to create Tribes: Ascend and Smite.
Now in development, Global Agenda 2 is expected to begin beta testing in mid-2013. After becoming a Hi-Rez fan through Tribes, I look forward to seeing the results. Do you?
