Speaking at DICE and appearing next to Star Trek/Star Wars director JJ Abrams, Valve founder Gabe Newell just blew a bunch of minds by stating that Valve is interested in talking about doing a Portal or Half-Life movie -- and that he's in talks with Abrams to do some kind of collaborative project.
[Edit: Oh, and they're also talking about making a game together.]
How the hell Abrams can find the time to make a game amid heading up the world's two biggest sci-fi franchises and numerous TV projects is a Lost-like mystery, but apparently those wheels are in motion. "We're super excited about that and we also want to talk about making movies, either a Portal movie or a Half-Life movie," Newell said.
(Thank you to Polygon for liveblogging this event.)
Time to commence casting rumors and other speculation, I suppose. Just remember: Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston's a bit old for the role of Gordon Freeman. Ok, GO!
