Codemasters released new details on the co-op multiplayer mode for its upcoming PC real-time strategy game Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. Soldiers will ship with a co-op multiplayer mode enabling up to four players to work through any of the campaigns in the game together. The game allows players to handpick their troops and take on any of the tactical action missions in the campaign. Codemasters says that the co-op multiplayer functionality in Soldiers offers its own game play outcomes and greatly increases the tactical options available to players.

Codemasters also said that it will continue supporting the Soldiers community with additional content in the form of free downloadable upgrades. The first upgrade will incorporate a new multiplayer mode, Versus, and offer third party online matching software from GameSpy Arcade. The upgrade release will also add Codemasters' anti-piracy and gaming security program. The upgrade will only function with an original copy of Soldiers and aims to safeguard the game play environment against others using cheats or those who hack into the Versus multiplayer game.
