Sure, PlanetSide 2 is an open-world shooter, but does it have chest-high walls to crouch behind while blindfiring over your shoulder? I thought not. That's where Defiance comes in. And fortunately for us, we'll be getting our first public taste of what I've taken to calling World of Gears of War from January 18-20, as Polygon reports.
I've gotten my hands on Defiance, but only in a small-scale multiplayer setting. The shooting feels really good, but I'm a bit concerned about how it will translate to a more open-world setting. I suppose I'll just have to take part in the beta and see how things go.
