A new Left 4 Dead mod is out, and while that's not news in its own right, the story surrounding the mod deserves attention. Texas' Alamo Draft House movie theaters are a restaurant/theater hybrid that serve as epicenters for Texan movie buffs. They not only show movies and serve an excellent dish of nachos, but also host quirky events. One such event is this month's "Dismember the Alamo" zombie film fest. One enthusiastic member of the Draft House community, ZapWizard, set out to enrich the experience with his own Left 4 Dead mod, featuring a perfectly recreated Alamo Draft House location (via Kotaku). Arcade-style kiosks are set to go up at the event for attendees' enjoyment, but you can check out the trailer or download the mod now from the Dismember the Alamo community site.

Tyler says: When I first read the headline for this news story I thought someone recreated the actual Alamo as a custom map for Left 4 Dead. But now that that's not the case, I say it's a golden idea yet to be made! The four survivors could be Davy Crockett, William B. Travis, James Bowie and General Santa Ana (a forced ally when both the Mexican and Texan armies became infected with the zombie virus). Someone give me a publishing deal! But why stop at the Alamo? What other historical events would make perfect dressing for a zombie apocalypse?
