Starting today, EA Mythic is providing some bigger incentives to players who evangelize Warhammer Online with enough fervor to attract their friends to the game. You get 30 days of free time for the first taste you dangle in front of a friend. After the second, you'll get an in-game pet on top of the play time. After the fourth, you'll get an item that boosts XP and "Renown" for your group. Beyond that, it's just play time. But maybe Mythic just isn't done designing incentive doodads.

The evil pet.

Miguel says: There's no more effective way to endorse a game than to play it for hours and hours. Whenever I get that deep into something, my friends know all about it. The problem is, there's no way to effectively endorse MMOs to people whose immediate response to them is a kneejerk ambivalence. I guess I understand where they're coming from. That being the case, how would someone like me get their friends to try WAR, when all the ones who'd be into are probably already playing? Does one have to get Amway with it?
