Tutorial Missions
You're ready to leave your mark on San Paro, and make some money while doing it. While building your image, remember that time is of the essence. Your assignments will be timed, and if you complete them quickly, you'll get a hefty reward; lollygaggle, and your superiors will toss petty dollars in your direction. Your standing is similarly affected by your promptness, so it always pays to be quick.
Although some of these missions can be started while you're out in the field, you're steered toward returning to the providers before starting each one. This grounds you in a familiar, centralized location, making it easier to navigate to your destinations. Nonetheless, if you want to, you can start missions whenever you're prompted for them. This may prevent you from following the directions as they're written in this guide, though the accompanying tips will still hold true.
Criminals
Shortly after creating your character, you'll be plunked down in San Paro Central Station -- a subway lobby. Nearby, a green-haired, crazy-eyed woman named Double-B will prompt you for a mission. You'll see the related window in the upper-left corner of your HUB, to the right of your name. This mission request will repeat until you've accepted it, so you can safely ignore it for now. Walk up to Double-B, and press Action/Interact (which, on Default Settings, is F) to learn about her back story. Explore the tabs of the Contact menu, and you'll discover that you can exchange goods through her.
Now that you're more familiar with the lady, wait till mission prompt returns, then press the Accept key (which is Y on Default Settings).
